What Not to Remake

A friend of mine posited a curious notion to me today.  If someone ever tried to remake Back to the Future, what car would they use for the time machine?  Can you imagine a Prius struggling to get up to 88mph?

Don’t think this idea is too far-fetched.  The turnaround between original and remake seems to be shortening (it’s just a breath if you consider the two Incredible Hulk films), so it shouldn’t be long before someone starts pilfering more of the 80s.  Think of it.  F/XLethal Weapon.  Or, God forbid, the John Hughes library.

Much like the window of time between theatrical and DVD release is closing, so, too, will the remake window. Just wait.

And yeah, I can see Hollywood and the media get in a lather over, “who’ll play Mel Gibson” in the Lethal Weapon reboot?

    Be afraid.
